Mercedes L. Miller is a speaker, author and consultant with an intrinsic ability to leave an indelible impression on the hearts and minds of readers and listeners. Mercedes (pronounced Mer’ suh dus) has extensive experience in communications, professional development and personal empowerment.  Mercedes received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and Theatre Arts from Western Carolina University.  She completed a continuing education program at Harvard University in Leadership Studies and Economic Development.  Miller was bestowed a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Springfield College-Benedictine University for her dedication to education and humankind in May of 2008. 

A nationally recognized speaker, Ms. Miller conducts seminars and inspirational speeches for churches, non-profit organizations, businesses as well as colleges and universities in venues around the country.  Her empowerment columns have been published throughout the US, Europe and the United Kingdom.  Mercedes’ professional endeavors and missions opportunities have opened doors for her in Costa Rica, Haiti, Canada and other parts of the world.

Mercedes is the former Executive Director of an organization where she worked with the United Nations and officials from various countries designing and implementing training, educational and outreach programs.  Her efforts established and maintained relationships with more than 61 jurisdictions within and outside of United States including Sweden, Finland, Saskatchewan, Switzerland and the Netherlands.  Mercedes worked directly with United Nations officials including Ambassadors from Pakistan, Minister Counselors from Tanzania and other countries and their officials.  Through her work, Miller designed and executed programs officiated in New York, Canada, Washington, DC, Massachusetts, Philadelphia and other areas of the United States.

Miller also serves as a consultant with various non-profits and churches in the area of fund development, grant writing, program structure, organizational capacity and leadership.  Her efforts have yielded millions of dollars in monetary and in-kind resources for those she serves.  Throughout the years she has made an acute impact on national and local organizations.

An inherent passion for speaking and writing is displayed in her collection of Guided Meditation CDs.  Her first book, Pathways to Peace: Meditations for a Tranquil Life, published by Strang Communications – one of the largest Christian book publishers in the country, is available throughout the US and abroad. 

Among her other community work with boards, committees and organizations, Mercedes serves on the Wake Forest University Divinity School Board of Visitors.  The work she does within the community has caused her to win numerous leadership and community services awards from such organizations as the YWCA and National Women of Achievement.  As well, she was only one of two individuals selected by Congressman Mel Watt as an Emerging Leader to represent the 12th Congressional District at the Congressional Black Caucus.  Indeed her work with local, national and international entities makes a difference in the lives of individuals and society as a whole.
